National Astronomy Week March 2014

National Astronomy Week (NAW2014)

NAW 2014 celebrated Jupiter which reached its highest point in the sky for many years.

All eyes were on the skies between 1st and 8th March 2014 when an array of fascinating celestial objects gathered in the night sky. Astronomical organisations and societies all over the UK hosted an array of events.

The Observatory Science Centre hosted a number of event including a uniformed groups evening. Everyone had the opportunity to be part of a nationwide project organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England. The project "Star Count" collected data on the number of stars people can see in the constellation of Orion.
