We're recruiting for the 2017 season!

Would you like to join the team at The Observatory Science Centre?

We are recruiting talented individuals to join our team in a variety of roles that support this amazing attraction. If there is not a role that fits your skills you are welcome to email Jo Harris in the first instance. 

All vacancies are part time, seasonal and fixed term to 13th December.

We will be particularly interested to hear from confident, enthusiastic individuals who would relish the opportunity to help develop and present science shows!

There is potential to work cafe shifts on any weekdays or weekend. Please state clearly on your application form which day(s) you are interested to work, to a maximum of 3 per week.
Evening cafe shifts may also be available.

There may also be seasonal 'gap year' opportunities. Please contact Jo Harris with your details via email in the first instance. 

Work Experience- Term Time only

The Centre offers a five day (Monday - Friday) work experience placement for school or college students during term time February - November. 

Students must have an aptitude for a placement within a busy tourist attraction and will shadow staff in all areas.

We accept a maximum of two students per week (not from the same school).  The hours are 9.30 am - 4 pm each day and students cannot be dropped off any earlier, nor can they access The Centre without car transport.

If you are interested in a work experience placement at The Centre you should contact the Work Experience Co-ordinator in your school. 

Please note we can only deal with requests direct from your school / college and we will not discuss placements with parents / guardians.

It is not possible to undertake work experience at The Centre during school holidays.

Trainee Teachers

The Centre can provide a complementary placement (unpaid) for trainee teachers contributing towards their course. 
To date The Centre has welcomed students studying Primary Education BA (Hons) Courses at The School of Education, University of Brighton, The University of Bedfordshire and Canterbury Christ Church University.
An Enhanced DBS Disclosure is essential.

This is co-ordinated through STEM Sussex.
