ScienceWorks

Each of the 6 interactive ScienceWorks exhibitions consists of 12 hands-on exhibits focusing on the National Curriculum Science programme of study at KS1, KS2 and KS3.  Developed for easy self operation and supported by comprehensive teacher’s notes, the exhibits are suitable for either schools or community events.  They may be used in the classroom or as part of a larger science event within the whole school.  It is also possible for senior schools to host an interactive exhibition in conjunction with their feeder primary schools, strengthening links and presenting opportunities for different year groups to share ideas or work together.

The aim of ScienceWorks is to widen the evidence with which children may challenge their existing ideas of ‘how’ and ‘why’ things happen.  Communication skills are stretched as pupils discuss and explore the activities during the session and subsequently in the classroom. The interactive nature of the exhibits does not only lend itself to science, but is completely cross-curricular.  The flexibility of the ‘hands-on’ approach of these exhibits means that it is unnecessary to have prior scientific knowledge.  ScienceWorks are also ideal for children with special educational needs.

The exhibitions do not require any special skills or instructions for use.  Each set stacks onto two trolleys to make then easy to move and store.  East set requires 12 tables approx 110 x 60 cm (or similar) and at least 2 mains electricity sockets. They will easily fit into a hall, library, gym etc.
