Visitor Feedback

Monday 13th June 2016 - 18:29 Entire visit was fantastic
My grandson and myself came for a visit to your wonderful science centre and attended a telescope talk. The young man giving the talk was knowledgeable funny and informative, and involved the children - and I found it fascinating. The entire visit was fantastic and everybody was very kind and helpful. I had the best fun in the water and discovery areas outside and look forward to seeing it all again very soon.

Saturday 6th June 2015 - 13:48 Thank you for a special day
We are two pensioners who came to the Science Centre 5th June 2015 I didn't think it would be of interest to me but went along for my partner, I must say I was so impressed and we had a lovely day, with the tour, we intend to come back in the evening winter time, I looked up on the internet when we got home the space station, and we were lucky tracking it on the screen then at 10.45pm went outside to actually see it go accross my house. Thank you for a special day. We are age 73!

Friday 20th February 2015 - 15:15 Thank you for an interesting experience
Our group visited yesterday (19th Feb) and I wanted to say thank you for an interesting experience. Our tour guide was absolutely professional and approachable and we all appreciated her knowledge and the ease at which she imparted it all to us.

Wednesday 27th August 2014 - 15:57 Bank Holiday 'Monsoon'. Sincere Thanks to you all
I would like to congratulate you and thank all your staff for the wonderful job you did providing an exciting experience for all the visitors who came last Monday 25 August 2014. The conditions were appalling but still they managed to make the event exciting especially for my 8 year old grandson who enjoyed every moment despite the appalling weather. Seeing a staff member serving in the shop, - mop up water leaking into the entrance hall and then preparing to lead a tour gave an impression of how much effort your staff are prepared to put in to the centre. My sincere thanks to you all. Sadly distance precludes frequent visits but I feel sure we will be visiting again as soon as we can.

Saturday 9th August 2014 - 14:53 Can't wait to come back next year!
Just wanted to say thank you for awesome day out today. We took loads of photos and also managed a wicked video of the science show. My son ,James is 7 and he loved it!
We went to science museum in London last week and I actually preferred ourtrip here today. My kids loved all the hands on activities and I loved the tours of the telescopes. The staff were all so helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Friday 8th August 2014 - 12:26 Everyone had a fantastic time
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much the children and leaders enjoyed both visits.
Everyone had a fantastic time with the exhibits and workshops and lots of children made the melted plastic signs as souvenirs.
The launching of their rockets was the highlight and ended our day brilliantly.
Pass on our thanks and appreciation to the teams who delivered the workshops and the science show; they did an amazing job and were so enthusiastic and entertained the children brilliantly.(Pay rises for all of them!?!)
Can I also thank you for your hard work in planning and prepping our visits; the timetables were perfect and the lunch accommodation excellent.
We had such an amazing time we hope to include the observatory on our regular schedule of visits for camp in the future.

Saturday 24th May 2014 - 11:58 HUGE 'thank you'
I just wanted to say a huge thank you from us all for Saturday. We had a great time; the food was delicious, the rocket building so much fun and the tour very informative. I just want to highlight that we thought the student who gave the tour was excellent.

Some of us will definitely be back for a visit with our children, it looks like a fun day out for them too!

Wednesday 9th April 2014 - 17:51 Very impressed
Very impressed We brought our grandsons to the science center on Sunday and x was very impressed at creating an explosion with hydrogen. I thought you might like to see the photos capturing the moment of the big bang. He also volunteered to demonstrate how a lens works, something we had to recreate once we got home.

Monday 24th March 2014 - 16:07 We were all 'buzzing'
I would like to thank you all for such a great evening last Saturday. All the staff were so friendly and informative. We all learned a lot! Looking through the telescopes was a fantastic experience and we were all 'buzzing' for the rest of the weekend. Keep up the good work

Friday 6th September 2013 - 16:02 It was a great day - thank you
The telescope tours were very much appreciated. Please pass my thanks to the staff who explained it all so well that even those amongst us who hated science at school understood what they were talking about.

It was a great day so thank you, once again, for your help. By the way, several people in the group were talking about making another visit to Herstmonceux in order to spend more time going round the grounds and more time playing with all the things in the Science Centre so I hope that happens.

Monday 12th August 2013 - 11:10 Fantastic family day out!
Each member of staff was helpful, informative and enthusiastic. We had a fantastic family day out. One member of staff went out of her way to help my daughter with her school project. Thank you very much!

Friday 5th April 2013 - 12:10 Great day out! Thanks to you all
Just to say how much we enjoyed our visit to the Science Centre yesterday.
Our family group included myself, my wife who is in a wheel chair, my granddaughter who is autistic, plus 4 other grandchildren and three of their parents. From the very start, all the staff couldn't have been more helpful, attentive and cheerful, on what was a freezing day! The presentation on forces was brilliant, and kept all the kids from 6 to 12 enthralled... the displays, discovery park etc were all high quality and engaging.

"We did enjoy the visit to Herstmonceux; the staff welcomed us to the site and we were lucky enough to experience the thrill of the night sky so wonderfully full of stars."
"What a memorable evening we had at the observatory. The weather was perfect and we had stunning views. The 2 people involved were brilliant and made it a successful and enjoyable occasion."

Sunday 8th July 2012 - 11:26 Studying physics- staff make a difference
I thought you might like to know, we were looking through our old photos, and found some of our son's birthday party at the Observatory Science Centre in March 2001. It must have worked, as our son has just completed his first year at Glasgow University sudying Physics with Astronomy, and his best friend at the party has just finished his first year at Oxford studying Physics.

I hope that inspires your staff to know that they make a difference

Sunday 3rd June 2012 - 07:50 Thank you once again!
Thank you for yet another fantastic day out at the Observatory. My two sons aged 7 and 5 love coming and discovering more fascinating things about the scientific world in which we live. We are already looking forward to our next visit in September. We have recommended many friends, who always give us extremely positive feedback.

Wednesday 28th March 2012 - 16:30 Absolutely magic
Just to say many thanks for a brilliant visit to the science centre during our recent visit to Hastings. Absolutely magic. Also the radio amateur station on the grounds made my wife and myself very welcome. Good work, and a great day out

Thursday 1st March 2012 - 11:18 The best present!
Can I say a really big thank you for looking after us on Saturday night. We were a group of 8 and we were looked after perfectly. The young lady with the food was a real gem and did everything she could to look after us. It was Val's (my wife) birthday and she stands in the garden for hours on end looking through her telescope at the universe ! It was the best present she could have had with the help of you guys who made it extra special.

Thursday 1st September 2011 - 11:21 Private evening Birthday party
We would like to say thank you SO MUCH for making our visit so special. Somehow the clouds parted and we were able to tick all the boxes of what we were hoping to see. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. it was exactly what I was hoping for when trying to find the perfect birthday present. We hope The Centre goes from strength to strength and we expect to be back!

Saturday 20th August 2011 - 11:24 Rocketry Workshop 9th August
Thank you for my lovely rocketry lesson. I really enjoyed it and looking around the other exhibits, but my favourite part of the day was firing the rockets.

Monday 1st August 2011 - 11:22 A hidden treasure
My family had the great pleasure of visiting whilst on holiday. I felt I should write to thank you for a wonderful day. The presentation of the chemistry show and the talk about the telescopes were both interesting and stimulating. We have visited many museums in our lifetime but this was by far the most engrossing. Its appeal to people of all ages is a great credit to the staff. A hidden treasure like The Centre deserves a greater profile.

Friday 1st July 2011 - 11:36 Will recommend to all our friends!
We visited you today and had the best day out in a long time. Both we and the kids enjoyed all of the interactive exhibits and the excellent tour and talk of the observatory. It's a lovely place and amazing that we have been to Hastings 2 years running but not been to you before. Will recommend to all our friends!

Friday 20th May 2011 - 11:27 Thanks to all the people
Just wanted to let you know that despite the clouds not playing ball, we still had a really good time and enjoyed our visit. It was our first, but will certainly not be the last time we come.
Thanks to all the people who took the time to explain the history of the various 'scopes.

Saturday 30th April 2011 - 11:28 Wow, what a great day out
Wow, what a great day out. There was so much to do, and very good value for money. I asked our 11 year old son if he had learnt anything - he said "Yes, science is more fun than I thought it was!" He was so inspired we bought cornflour to make goo and he is going to show some experiments at school in the run up to their Yr6 SATs!! We'll be back for an evening of star gazing soon.

Sunday 10th April 2011 - 11:29 What a great experience
We visited the observatory yesterday evening (9/4/11) with my 8 yr old grandson. What a great experience. Both adults and child really enjoyed themselves. How amazing to see Saturn so clearly through the telescopes, plus the moon, stars etc. The staff manning the large telescopes and the members of the Wealden Astronomical Society were all so knowledgeable and helpful, spending time answering our questions. Thank you for a fantastic evening, I didn't want to leave!

Wednesday 30th March 2011 - 11:33 The Centre is brilliant
I came along for my first ever visit last Saturday, together with my wife and our two sons, aged 8 and 6. We all think your Observatory Science Centre is brilliant! The boys especially loved all the hands-on interactive displays and experiments, both indoors and out. The telescopes are amazing, we are sorry we missed the guided tours but will be back to catch one next time. And we'd love to come at night time too so we can see through the lens.

Tuesday 10th August 2010 - 11:35 I would like to come back soon
Written by Mummy but dictated by Jack.......
I came to visit yesterday and I really liked it. My favourite was the big ball that rolls down the ramp and rings the bells. I would like to come back soon.

Tuesday 30th March 2010 - 11:31 Saturn won 'hands-down'
Just a note to thank you and your amazing army of volunteers for last night's event. Everyone was extremely complimentary about the information they had gleaned from the astronomers, and Saturn won hands-down on the 'best thing you saw' question.

Sunday 28th February 2010 - 11:38 Engrossed all day long
Really inspiring visit to the science park - much better than xxxx and much more imaginative on many levels. We had our 8 and 6 year old with us and they were engrossed all day long with the eldest claiming it was the best family day out ever! The exhibits are imaginative, informative and really accessible for both children and adults. We took them to the workshop on Forces which was really well done, both amusing and inclusive as well as very educational. I was worried that the observatory tour would be too adult for them but they were enthralled with it all. Thank you and well done - will definitely recommend to anyone that will listen!

Monday 28th September 2009 - 11:39 There's something for everybody
A 5 year old was completely enthralled - and two 65 year olds! There's something for everybody here.

Tuesday 1st September 2009 - 11:16 Inspired by exhibits
Although I am someone who has always had an interest in many aspects of science it was great to relearn and to get a hands-on experience of things I had only seen in theory. My 2 children were inspired by the exhibits. We thought we might get a couple of hours amusement from the day, but stayed 4 1/2 hours. I will certainly be commending you to friends and family
