The Observatory Science Centre relies on visitor income which has been drastically impacted by COVID-19 restrictions and national lockdown.
No matter the size, every donation really helps us to maintain and develop this unique historic attraction, to engage with educational groups both on site and through our outreach programme; and continue to deliver Spectacular Science to all visitors amongst the domes and telescopes of a world famous astronomical observatory.
Please stay in touch and share any ideas to help us move forward...

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to a charity. For every £1 you give to support the charity, they receive an extra 25 pence from the tax you have already paid.
Who can donate in this way?
You have to be a UK tax payer and must be resident in the UK.
For every £1 you donate in a financial year, you must have paid 28 pence in income or capital gains tax in the same financial year.
What if I am a higher rate taxpayer?
If you declare the donation on your tax return, you can claim a rebate based on the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate when you fill in your self assessment form. Your admission receipt will clearly show that you have made a Gift Aid payment.
Example: you donate £100 to charity- they claim Gift Aid to make your donation £125. You pay 40% tax so you can personally claim back £25.00 (£125 x 20%).
If I give you my address details will I receive junk mail?
No, we will not pass your details to anyone.
Who will have access to this information?
Only Science Projects Ltd and the Inland Revenue. Personal information will never be passed to anyone else and is treated in accordance with GDPR.
This won't take long...
