This workshop covers the relative size of the Moon to the Earth and incorporates Year 5 statutory requirements.                           

Working with groups of pupils, we explore the moon phases and practically model how we see different amounts of the moon from planet Earth.

• describe the movement of the Moon relative to the Earth
• describe the Sun, Earth and Moon as approximately spherical bodies
• use the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky.
