All of our superheroes are people whose extraordinary discoveries and inventions have helped shape our understanding of science today.
Using a variety of spectacular demonstrations, our presenter will highlight the work of a selection of great figures from science including Da Vinci, Archimedes and Newton. Pupils will be enthralled as they watch a flaming tornado and discover facts about forces, flight and vortexes.
Through the use of fun, interactive experiments, pupils will be introduced to perhaps some lesser known Superheroes of Science including the inventors of Velcro, The Van de Graaff generator and Kevlar. Pupils will participate in a Velcro tug-of-war, see a hair-raising experience using our Van de Graaff generator and test the exceptional strength of Kevlar by launching ‘missiles’ at a brave adult volunteer in our specially-made ‘Kevlar’ jacket!
Through these demonstrations, pupils will gain an understanding of the properties of different materials and static electricity.
